The Oral Microbiome Research Laboratory at Temple University is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join our dynamic team. Led by Dr. Al-Hebshi, the lab focuses on: deciphering the role of the oral microbiome in health and disease; modeling, modulating and quantifying oral microbial dysbiosis; and investigating the anticancer properties of oral commensal bacteria. The successful candidate will work within an interdisciplinary research environment and collaborate with a broad network of national and international partners. Qualifications: • A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant field obtained within the last three years • At least three high-quality, first-author publications Required Experience: • Microbiological techniques, including cultivation of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, and working with biofilm or microbiome models • Molecular techniques, including amplicon and shotgun library preparation for next-generation sequencing • Bioinformatic analysis of microbiome data using tools such as mothur, QIIME, HUMAnN, and relevant R packages • Mammalian cell culture techniques Preferred Experience: • Animal models of periodontitis and/or cancer The position is funded by grants from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR)
